Welcome to Utah’s New State CTE Director, Thalea Longhurst!

We are pleased to welcome Thalea Longhurst, Utah’s new State CTE Director! Longhurst had an unusual introduction to the education field, beginning her career in sports medicine. While obtaining a master’s degree and working in a clinic, a local school district expressed interest in starting a sports medicine program. Longhurst started by teaching just a few hours a day, which eventually turned into a 10-year part-time teaching tenure at the local high school. Utah has the unique ability to license industry professionals to teach in the classroom, allowing her to practice sports medicine professionally, while also teaching part time.

NCHSE and Precision Exams Combine to Sponsor HOSA’s Poster Project

The National Consortium for Health Science Education (NCHSE) is truly appreciative of our ongoing relationship with HOSA–Future Health Professionals, a curriculum-focused national career and technical student organization. HOSA continues to provide outstanding educational experiences for students. Together we support health science education programs in their preparation of the future workforce.

In May 2015, through a combined partnership with Precision Exams, provider of the National Health Science Assessment and NCHSE, a decision was made to sponsor one of the posters in HOSA’s 2015-2016 Health Professions Poster Series. This opportunity provided both NCHSE and Precision Exams visibility among HOSA state leaders, local advisors/teachers, students, schools and communities.  More →
